On August 9 2005, fire broke out on the outskirts of Oliver, BC.

I could see the smoke on my way home from work, and as I pulled into town I could see how bad it really was. I immediately drove home grabbed my camera, climbed onto my motorcycle and headed out for a closer look. I took several shots from various locations along Black Sage Road and Tuc-ul-nuit Drive (keeping out of the way of emergency vehicles), then returned home to check them out. Out of all the pictures I had taken, there were a few that I thought were quite good, so I sent them off to a few of the local and provincial papers. One was picked up by the Province newspaper in Vancouver. My first real published photo. Here it is. Click on it to read the entire article (not writen by me) in Adobe PDF format. You will need Acrobat Reader to view it. Also some of the other pics are at the bottom of the page. Just click on them to view a larger image.
